A gypsy encampment existed in the open territories of Lyons, Illinois along Ogden Avenue in the early 1900's until it was forced out by commerce. The land is now occupied by a car dealership.

Sister Vintage

Nicole of Flaming Hag Folkwear - my kindred spirit, at the very least, is holding a pretty marvelous giveaway on her blog! And if you haven't had a chance to read her updates, hers is definitely, a blog to follow and keep tabs on.
Enter to win here.  You have until December 15th, 5 pm PST.

This sweet baby right here has got me giddy!
This lovely little carousel pendant will be atop the box of goodies the winner receives.
Brilliant!

The day we finally met in person. Here's Nicole in our fitting room ... gallery ... hanging feather room ... magical forest. We chatted and gabbed for quite a while, like we'd known each other for years.

Nicole and I are working on swap boxes, as we speak (this is my first-ever swap-box swap, I'm  having so much fun gathering items to put in the package!) ...  so, I should feel a little guilty commenting on her blog twice (soon to be three) to try and win her goody box, right?  But, I really really would like to have that pendant, as well as the wonderful things inside the box. So ... the conclusion I have come to is ... GO FOR IT!

All's fair in vintage and giveaways.

Clouds

Sometimes, I watch the clouds cover the moon.
Sometimes, I watch the clouds cover the sun.
Sometimes, I look at the sky and there are no clouds at all.

- Amelia Arellanes (6 years old)

Amelia was asked to write 3 sentences about clouds, as part of last night's homework.  These are the sentences she put down on paper.  I thought it was quite poetic, though she didn't mean for it to be.
